OPENING STATEMENT CZECHOSLOVAK ANARCHIST SOCIETY

The Czechoslovak Anarchist Society (CAS) was established by the declaration of the founding congress on the 21st of October 2023 due to the need for an authentic social-anarchist organization. We are not creating anything new – on the contrary. Our aim is to bring back the original subject matter of anarchism – we view it thus as a movement of wage laborers. We do not strive for a media-friendly linguistic expression; we avow that our long-term goal is a society based on anarchist communism. Just as we naturally denounce electoralism, xenophobia, or nationalism, we also stand against militarism and the financial or vocal support thereof. Why do we not join one of the existing groups or collectives? We believe that current collectives have depleted themselves in a certain way, and they continue to exist in a kind of inertial condition. They do not offer any long-term vision, they do not have definite strategies for class struggle or medium-term goals, and they are not anchored programme-wise. Due to reasons commonly related to capacity, they often focus on a single, partial topic. This does not mean that they do not conduct their activities in a fine manner, but in the Czech environment, there is, for instance, a perceptible absence of an active anarchist opposition to the asocial right-wing government, whose policy of cutbacks rivals those of the governments of Nečas or Topolánek. However, these past governments and politicians were met with mass protests. We would like to connect with anyone who is threatened by the high prices of food or power, and develop effective counter-pressure to these tendencies. At the same time, we welcome collaboration with other collectives and individuals, with whom we share our anarchist principles. We did not come to drive a wedge into the movement.
